Fanoe is one of the most famous holiday destinations in Denmark. Since late 19th century, people from Europe has been attracted to the wide beaches, the beautiful nature and the fresh air.

It is still the beach and the nature, that brings guests to the island, combined with a huge amount of cultural activities. Fanoe has a lot to offer, all seasons.

Fanø in July

Fanø in July is high summer with swimming, sunbathing and fun at the beach.

July is also the month of music

The “Fanø Summer Concerts” with Classical music every Tuesday in Nordby. Tthis year with the world famous tenor Francesco Hong among others.

Also “Fanø Guitar Festival” every Thursday in Nordby. This year amongst others the world famous classical guitarist John Mills and Lute player Hopkinsom Smith.

Fanø Free Folk Festival is a brand new and different kind of music festival, taking place at Sønderho on Fanø. The festival which is presented by music magazine Geiger in cooperation with local forces, aims at creating an intimate event with a strong emphasis on close, intense encounters with the music. The Danish Government has appointed Fanoe and the Wadden sea as one of Denmarks first National Parks. 

Millions of birds, hundreds of seals, a huge amount of oysters waiting to be picked up and eaten, the Wadden Sea is really something special.

The first week of August is special for children:
Fanø Family Kite Festival takes place from August 4 until August 8. You can join the Kite workshop and build your very own Kite. Or invite your teddy for a parachute jump. All the kite flying is at Rindby Beach.

In the town of Nordby there is a Street Theater Festival going on from August 5 until August 7. All the shows are free - and it is for the whole family.

Sea-Shanty festival with chorus from Great Britain, Eire land, Holland and Denmark the 20-22nd August 2010

Fanø has a great Seafarer tradition, and naturally we also have a Seaman’s chorus – the “Stork Ejlaender”. The chorus has performed in many places in Europe and thereby come in contact with other Seaman’s chorus. A number of these choruses will visit the 2010 Fanø Sea-Shanty Festival.
It will be a great festival where the choruses can be heard live in the street during Saturday. The great concert will take place Saturday evening.
