The Fanniker Days

July 13 - July 15  2012

Experience the rush of history and culture of the Fanniker Days on Fanoe.

The 2nd weekend in July we have a big party in Nordby. From Friday to Sunday, the parking lot next to the ferry is transformed into a festive place with various stalls, dance tent, and much more.

What is special about this festival is that the traditional Fano culture and costumes play an important role. Processions and performances in traditional costumes from Fano are an essential part of the festival. The Fanniker Days is also a tribute to previous generations. It is a live demonstration of our common history.

The fixed points of Fannikerdagene are:

Friday:
In the evening evening the "hat ladies" celebrates their annual dinner. Only women with hats are invited. Later there is a dance, where everyone is welcome.

Saturday:
In the morning, there is dancing in the streets carried out by members of Fano Folkedanserforening.

At pm. 14:00 there is a procession from the City Hall to the festive place with many people wearing their traditional costume. On the festive place there will be more dancing from Fano Folkedanserforening and traditional fiddler music in the tent.
In the evening there is a dance in the tent.

Sunday:
The day starts with a ceremony at the Church in Nordby at pm 1:00 and then at pm 2:00 a parade from the church through town to "Pakhusbanken" near the festive place.
Here the many different costumes will be presented, culminating with the performance "the sailor's homecoming".
