Shopping on Fanoe means small and cosy shops with local specialities and craftwork.
For centuries we have sailed the oceans with merchant ships. We don'r have any merchant vessels anymore, but you can still make a good deal on Fanoe.
Food Products
We are proud of our food producers. The key words are small amounts and high quality.
" Fanø Bryghus" is the local brewery, who makes high quality beer based on the pure water from Fanoe.
" Slagter Christiansen" is the local butcher, who produce the famous smoked ham and various salamis. Henrik Christiansen has received numerous prizes for his products.
" Fanø Lynghonning" is Heather Honey. A number of small scale producers makes their own honey.
"Fanø Lam" is lamb from a sheep that originates from the Swedish Island of Gottland. Both meat and woll are produced by "Uldsnedkeren" in Sønderho.
Handicraft
Arts and crafts plus design is another area, where we have something special to offer. We have shops sprecialised in Danish arts and crafts like Kant, Kunstladen og Galleri Vadehavet, and designers and craftsmen with their owwn shops like: Arbuckle Design (jewelry in gold og silver) Glaspusteren (glass) Christel Seyfarth (knitted clothing) Silken (silk clothing) Uldsnedkeren (yarn and clothing in wool) Victorias Palace (paper, books etc.)
Amber is one the natural ressources from the ocean, that we use for jewelry. We have two craftsmen specialised in amber: Uwe Apel in Nordby, Jens Peter Jensen in Sønderho
